Editor's review
The concept of match-3 games first arrived with the pioneering games in this category like Bejeweled, Jewel twist, Diamond Twister etc. and became extremely famous amongst millions of users. Forwarding the same old concept of these widely popular genre defining games, a number of different prototypes have been developed with entirely changed characters, bonuses, themes, backgrounds, graphics, layout. In short, virtually all the aspects of the game has undergone massive make over, but just the rules! Players still need to arrange the similar pieces in the required format in order to get them eliminated. Pop The Marbles (Linux) v.1.0 is one such game which definitely deserves a shot from every user who likes short games.
The game opens up with a wide screen display of the title menu and a field for entering the name of the user along with beautifully laid out background of some realistic and lively landscape or scenery and colorful graphics. On starting the level, the player can see multicolored marbles hanging and attached together in a set pattern. Now you have a cannon from which you have to shoot the marbles to attach the identically colored marble in order to eliminate them. You can also see the marble that is just about to get loaded after shooting the marble which is ready in the cannon. The grid is basically translucent and sometimes, can be of a complicated shape with a unique grid in each of the 50 levels. On the top horizontal bar on the game screen, you can see the score, number of marbles shot and the running timer during your gameplay.
To conclude with, Pop The Marbles (Linux) v.1.0 is a nice game with a vivid interface and beautiful background combined with an addictive gameplay that leads it to score a rating of four points on the scale of five.
